Start your trip to Thailand from booking your flight tickets. When to travel there is not as important, Thailand is huge so you will always find good weather in there. Some months are obviously better, but you do not need to plan much if you travel off the season, from May to October, so it is good for those who like spontaneity. There are not that many tourists then, the hotels are not that busy so it is easy to find where to stay.
When choosing your flight to Thailand the best destinations to fly are Bangkok , Phuket or Krabi, you can fly to these cities from Europe directly or with 1 connecting flight. There is an option to fly to Kuala Lumpur, it is cheaper and convenient to fly to Thailand from there, especially to the southern part of Thailand. If you plan to spend more time in southern Thailand it does not matter if you choose to travel to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur; to fly to Krabi or Surat Thani costs the same either from Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. The best option of course would be to fly to Phuket or Krabi, especially if you are not that keen to travel to Bangkok or you do not have loads of time and simply want to chill by the warm ocean under the palms. You can fly to Krabi with Finnair, Aeroflot, Thai Airways (via Bangkok), Quatar Airways. Other option is to fly to Bangkok and fly back from Phuket or Krabi (the best option for time savers).

What do you need to know before choosing you flight? Pay attention to the duration of the flight, airlines and what you get for the price you pay. The most convenient (shortest) flights are with Ukraine Airlines, Aeroflot, Finnair, comfortable Turkish Airlines flights. The cheapest one way flight is with Norwegian Airlines via Oslo. Always remember that buying one way ticket the total price will be much bigger.
